Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons sugar

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast

1 cup warm milk (110°F or 43°C)

1/2 cup unsalted butter (divided, 1/4 cup melted and 1/4 cup softened for brushing)

1 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

4 cloves garlic (minced)

2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)

1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (chopped)

1 tablespoon fresh thyme (chopped)

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional: Flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until frothy.

Prepare Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the frothy yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough starts to form.

Knead: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Prepare Garlic Herb Mixture: In a small bowl, mix together the minced garlic, chopped herbs (parsley, rosemary, thyme), and black pepper.

Shape Rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and place about a teaspoon of the garlic herb mixture in the center. Fold the edges over and roll into a ball.

Second Rise: Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover again and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes until fluffy.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Brush with Butter: After the rolls have risen, melt the remaining 1/4 cup of butter and brush it generously over the top of the rolls.

Bake: Sprinkle optional flaky sea salt on top and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving warm, either plain or with extra butter on the side.

Prep Time: 25 minutes | Total Time: 2 hours 10 minutes | Servings: 12 rolls
