Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tbsp olive oil

4 slices Swiss cheese

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

4 burger buns

Lettuce, tomato, and your choice of condiments for serving

Instructions

Caramelize the Onions:

In a medium-sized skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes or until the onions are golden brown and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

      Prepare the Burger Mixture:

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until combined but do not overwork the meat. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions.

          Stuff the Burgers:

Take each portion of meat and flatten it into a patty. Place a slice of Swiss cheese and a spoonful of caramelized onions in the center of four patties. Top each with another patty, sealing the edges tightly to encase the filling. Make sure there are no gaps.

              Cook the Burgers:

Preheat your grill or pan over medium-high heat. Place the stuffed patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side for medium doneness. Adjust cooking time according to your desired doneness.

                  Toast the Buns:

During the last couple of minutes of cooking, place the burger buns cut-side down on the grill or in a separate skillet to toast them until golden brown.

                      Assemble the Burgers:

Once the burgers are cooked, place them on the toasted buns. Top with fresh lettuce, tomato, and your favorite condiments. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
