Ingredients

For the Brownie Layer:

1 cup (225g) unsalted butter

2 cups (400g) granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour

½ cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon baking powder

For the Cheesecake Layer:

8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened

½ cup (100g) granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Instructions

Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

Make the Brownie Batter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar until well combined. Let it cool slightly.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Once the butter-sugar mixture has cooled a bit, whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined (do not overmix).

Prepare the Cheesecake Mixture: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the granulated sugar and beat until combined. Then, stir in the egg, vanilla extract, and flour until all ingredients are well mixed and smooth.

Layering: Pour about two-thirds of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly. Spoon the cheesecake mixture over the brownie layer, and then dollop the remaining brownie batter on top. Use a knife to gently swirl the two layers together for a marbled effect.

Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter.

Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve. For an extra touch, drizzle with chocolate ganache or a dusting of powdered sugar.
