Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt together with an electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.

Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and walnuts (if using), ensuring an even distribution.

Scoop the Dough: Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.

Cool: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy! Once cooled, indulge in the warm, gooey goodness of your homemade chocolate chip cookies!
