Ingredients

1 cup orzo pasta

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup vegetable or chicken broth

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Zest of 1 lemon

Juice of 1 lemon

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Orzo: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the orzo and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Sauté Garlic: In the same pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Make the Sauce: Pour in the vegetable or chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Stir in the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, lemon zest, lemon juice, dried thyme, and dried oregano. Mix well to combine and let the sauce simmer for about 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.

Combine Orzo: Add the cooked orzo to the sauce and toss to coat evenly. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat. Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley for added flavor and color.
