Ingredients

1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornstarch

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 large egg, beaten

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken: In a large bowl, combine chicken pieces with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss well to coat evenly.

Set Up the Breading Station: In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, place the beaten egg. In a third bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt and pepper.

Bread the Chicken: Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour, shaking off excess, then dip in the beaten egg, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs. Press firmly to adhere the breadcrumbs to the chicken.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat about 1 inch of oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Chicken: Carefully place a few chicken pieces in the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally for even cooking. Remove cooked chicken bites and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Repeat with remaining chicken.

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger (if using), rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.

Combine Chicken and Sauce: In a large mixing bowl, add the crispy chicken bites and pour the honey garlic sauce over them. Toss gently to coat the chicken evenly.

Serve: Transfer chicken bites to a serving plate. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy your deliciously crispy honey garlic chicken bites immediately!
