Ingredients

6 large dill pickles, cut into spears

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

Cooking spray or olive oil spray

Instructions

Prep the Pickles: Start by draining the pickles and patting them dry with paper towels. This step is important to help the coating stick. Cut the pickles into spears, usually four sections per pickle.

Set Up Breading Stations: In three separate shallow bowls, set up your breading station:

      - In the first bowl, add the flour.

        - In the second bowl, beat the eggs until combined.

          - In the third bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

Coat the Pickle Spears: Take each pickle spear and first dip it into the flour, ensuring it's fully coated. Shake off any excess flour. Next, dip the spears into the beaten eggs, coating them well. Finally, roll the pickles in the seasoned panko breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the crumbs adhere well.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it heat for about 5 minutes while you continue coating the pickle spears.

Air-Fry the Pickle Spears: Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the coated pickle spears in a single layer, making sure they aren’t overcrowded (you may need to do this in batches). Lightly spray the tops of the pickles with cooking spray.

Cook to Perfection: Air-fry the pickle spears for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t burn.

Serve and Enjoy: Once cooked, remove the spears from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauce (like ranch, sriracha mayo, or a tangy mustard) and enjoy this delightful crunchy appetizer!
