Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Gruyère cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the shrimp and sauté for about 2-3 minutes or until they start to turn pink. Remove from heat and set aside.

Make the Garlic Cream Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Once it’s melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Add the Cream and Cheese: Pour in the heavy cream and stir well. Add the Gruyère and Parmesan cheeses, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir continuously until the cheese is melted and the mixture is smooth.

Combine Shrimp and Sauce: Add the sautéed shrimp to the cheese sauce, mixing well to ensure the shrimp are coated evenly. Then stir in the fresh parsley.

Prepare the Gratin Dish: Transfer the shrimp and sauce mixture into a greased baking dish (approximately 9x13 inches).

Top with Breadcrumbs: In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with a little melted butter (1 tablespoon) and sprinkle evenly over the shrimp mixture for a crunchy topping.

Bake: Place the gratin in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbling.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with more chopped parsley before serving. Enjoy your savory Garlic Shrimp Gratin with crusty bread for dipping!
