Ingredients

8 chicken drumsticks

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

5 cloves garlic, minced

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature will help achieve a crispy skin on the drumsticks.

Prepare the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Coat the Chicken: Place the chicken drumsticks in a large resealable plastic bag or a bowl. Pour the garlic and butter mixture over the chicken, making sure to coat each drumstick evenly. Seal the bag or cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more intense flavor.

Add Parmesan: Preheat a baking sheet by placing it in the oven for about 5 minutes. Once preheated, remove the baking sheet. Sprinkle half of the grated Parmesan on the bottom of the sheet to create a cheesy crust.

Arrange and Bake: Place the marinated chicken drumsticks on the baking sheet over the Parmesan layer. Make sure they are spaced out evenly. Top the drumsticks with the remaining grated Parmesan cheese.

Bake to Crisp: Bake the drumsticks in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown, crispy, and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C). You can broil for an additional 2-3 minutes at the end for extra crispiness.

Serve and Garnish: Once done, remove the drumsticks from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the chicken for a zesty finish.
