12 oz fresh mozzarella cheese (cut into sticks)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Vegetable oil (for frying)

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Prepare the Cheese: Start by cutting the mozzarella into sticks, approximately 3 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. Freeze the cheese sticks for at least 1 hour until they are firm. This helps the cheese maintain its shape when frying.

    Set Up the Breading Station: In three separate shallow dishes, set up your breading station. In the first dish, place the all-purpose flour. In the second dish, beat the two eggs until well combined. In the third dish, mix the panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

      Bread the Mozzarella Sticks: Take the frozen mozzarella sticks out of the freezer. Coat each stick in flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, ensuring it's fully coated. Finally, roll the stick in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs.

        Second Coating (Optional): For an extra crunchy coating, repeat the egg and breadcrumb processes. This additional layer will enhance the texture and flavor.

          Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or deep fryer, add enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom about 1 inch high. Heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test it by dropping a small piece of breadcrumb in—if it sizzles, it’s ready.

            Fry the Sticks: Carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
