Ingredients

For the Chicken:

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 large egg

1/4 cup water

Oil for frying

For the Sauce:

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup chicken broth

3 tablespoons rice vinegar

2 tablespoons sugar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 teaspoons sesame oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

1-2 teaspoons red pepper flakes (to taste)

For Garnish:

Sliced green onions

Toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

    - In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.

      - In another bowl, whisk together the egg and water until well combined. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, stirring until a batter forms.

        - Add the chicken pieces to the batter, ensuring they are well coated.

          Fry the Chicken:

            - In a deep skillet or wok, heat oil over medium-high heat (about 350°F or 175°C). Once hot, carefully drop in the battered chicken pieces in batches, frying for about 4-6 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove and let drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

              Make the Sauce:

                - In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, chicken broth, rice vinegar, sugar, cornstarch, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.

                  Combine Chicken and Sauce:

                    - In a separate pan, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Once hot, pour in the sauce mixture and bring it to a boil, stirring continuously until it thickens, about 2-3 minutes.

                      - Add the fried chicken pieces to the pan, tossing them in the sauce until well coated and heated through.

                        Serve:

                          - Transfer the General Tso’s Chicken to a serving dish. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve with steamed rice or fried rice for a complete meal.
