Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced thin

1 cup beef broth

1 cup milk

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

2 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon paprika

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Brown the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat.

Add Aromatics: Stir in the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onions are translucent, about 4-5 minutes.

Make Beef Mixture: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir to combine. Gradually add the beef broth, stirring continuously until well blended. Simmer for about 2 minutes until slightly thickened.

Layer the Casserole: In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, create layers as follows:

            - First layer: half of the sliced potatoes, neatly arranged.

              - Second layer: half of the beef mixture spread evenly on top of the potatoes.

                - Third layer: repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and beef mixture.

Pour Milk Over: Carefully pour the milk over the entire casserole, ensuring all layers are moistened.

Add Cheese and Butter: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top, followed by dotting the casserole with small pieces of butter.

Cover and Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil (to avoid browning too quickly) and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.

Uncover and Brown: After 1 hour, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.

Cool and Garnish: Once done, remove from oven and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
