2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

Zest of 1 large orange

2 tbsp fresh orange juice

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2-3 tbsp orange juice (for glaze)

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

    Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

      Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

        Add Wet Ingredients: Add the egg, orange zest, fresh orange juice, and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix until well combined.

          Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

            Shape the Cookies: Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

              Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked; they will firm up as they cool.

                Cool the Cookies: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

                  Prepare the Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and enough orange juice to achieve a smooth, pourable consistency.

                    Glaze the Cookies: Once the cookies are completely cool, drizzle the glaze over the top of each cookie using a fork or a piping bag. Allow the glaze to set for about 15-20 minutes.
