Ingredients

500g ground beef

2 tbsp vegetable oil

1 large onion, finely chopped

2 cloves of garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

2 medium tomatoes, chopped

1 green chili, slit (adjust to taste)

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp garam masala

Salt to taste

1/2 cup peas (fresh or frozen)

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

2-3 tbsp water (as needed)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.

Sauté Aromatics: Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds. Then, add the finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.

Add Garlic and Ginger: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

Incorporate Tomatoes: Add the chopped tomatoes and green chili to the pan. Cook until the tomatoes soften and begin to break down, about 5-7 minutes.

Spice It Up: Sprinkle in the coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir well to combine, cooking for about 2 minutes to meld the flavors.

Cook the Beef: Add the ground beef to the pan, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 10-12 minutes.

Add Peas: Stir in the peas and add a couple of tablespoons of water as needed to create a moist curry. Allow to simmer for another 5 minutes.

Finish with Garam Masala: Sprinkle the garam masala over the beef and stir well. Let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes before removing from heat.

Garnish and Serve: Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side. This dish pairs beautifully with naan, rotis, or steamed rice.
