Ingredients

1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (for binding)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup finely chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, cilantro, or basil)

1/4 cup finely diced onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg, beaten

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp paprika or chili powder (optional, for heat)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for coating)

Olive oil or vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

Prepare the Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped herbs, diced onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, salt, black pepper, and paprika (if using). Mix well until the ingredients are evenly combined.

Form the Patties: With your hands, form the mixture into small patties, about 2 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick. Place them on a parchment-lined tray.

Coat the Patties: Lightly dust each patty with all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess. This will help create a crispy exterior during frying.

Heat the Oil: In a large frying pan or skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of oil over medium heat. You can test if the oil is hot enough by dropping a tiny amount of the mixture into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.

Fry the Patties: Carefully add the patties to the pan, cooking in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Drain and Serve: Remove the patties from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm, with your choice of dipping sauce, such as tzatziki, spicy mayo, or a cilantro-lime dip.

Enjoy Your Creation: These rice patties make a delightful appetizer, snack, or even a vegetarian main dish. Enjoy!
