Ingredients

6 large butter croissants, torn into bite-sized pieces

8 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage (or diced ham)

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1/2 cup green onions, chopped

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh parsley or chives for garnish

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Prepare Croissants: In a large bowl, add the torn croissant pieces and spread them evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Mix Egg Base: In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper flakes until well combined.

Layer Ingredients: Sprinkle the cooked breakfast sausage evenly over the croissants, followed by the shredded cheddar cheese, halved cherry tomatoes, and chopped green onions.

Combine: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered ingredients in the dish, ensuring that the croissants are well-soaked. Press down gently with a spatula if needed to ensure the mixture is evenly distributed.

Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the top is golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Let the casserole cool for about 5-10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired.

Enjoy: Serve warm and enjoy this comforting and hearty breakfast treat!
