Ingredients

1 lb elbow macaroni

4 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded

1 cup cream cheese, softened

4 cups whole milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp black pepper

Salt to taste

1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Make the Cheese Sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, stir in the flour to create a roux, cooking for about 2 minutes until golden.

Add Milk: Gradually whisk in the whole milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to whisk until the mixture thickens and bubbles, about 5-7 minutes.

Incorporate the Cheeses: Reduce the heat to low and add the cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, and Gruyère cheese. Stir until the cheeses are fully melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt to taste.

Combine: Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce. Stir well to ensure the pasta is fully coated in the cheesy goodness.

Prepare for Baking: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac and cheese to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Add Topping: In a small bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs with a tablespoon of melted butter. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the mac and cheese.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, let it sit for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
